Bill Wisotsky

Zakk1
Bill Wisotsky started martial arts with Japanese Jiu-Jitsu in elementary school as a result of being bullied. In 7th grade he left Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and wrestled until his senior year of high school. After graduating high school Bill concentrated on academics earning a BA in Psychology, MA in Experimental Psychology, MA in Biopsychology and PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience. In graduate school Bill started training in Kempo eventually earning a Black Belt. While training in Kempo he always fell back to his wrestling/grappling experience and eventually left Kempo to start training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His 1st competition in BJJ was at 40 years old and was more like a bucket list item, never thinking he would enjoy it enough to compete a couple of times each year thereafter. Now turning 46, BJJ is part of his lifestyle and has become part of his identity. He loves the self defense aspect of it, the fitness, the competitiveness and most importantly the camaraderie.

BJJ and in particular Maxum, is a special place with people from very diverse backgrounds where once you walk into the door everyone is equal, no one cares. You are judged on you actions and behavior on the mats. It allows everyone complete freedom during the time they spend there.
